Consistent, reliable software

I've used Countfire for several projects now, mostly for the Automated Takeoff feature. This last time, I was working on a large commercial build and needed to count symbols across multiple PDFs. It worked just as smoothly as it did on my first project. The speed and accuracy are consistently good, which is why I keep coming back. It saves me so much time every time.

Good tool for busy days

Used Countfire for a smaller job last week. Needed to get an estimate out fast. The Cloud Takeoff Storage was handy, could switch between my office and home computer. It just worked, you know? Made things a bit easier.

Streamlined my estimating process

I signed up for the free trial of Countfire to test out their Electrical Estimating Software, specifically the PDF Symbol Counting feature. The onboarding was pretty straightforward, and I was able to upload a set of drawings and start counting within an hour. The symbol recognition was surprisingly accurate on a moderately complex drawing, maybe missed one or two, but it was easy to manually adjust. Delivery isn't really a thing for software, but the service was always up and running, no downtime. I did have a question about integrating with Excel Export, and their support team responded to my email within a few hours with a clear explanation. Overall, a solid tool that really does what it says. It made a noticeable difference in how fast I could get estimates out.

What kind of discount do you get if you pay annually instead of monthly?

B Ben Reyes 1 month ago
I think it's usually around 10-15% off compared to the monthly price. It adds up over a year.

Yeah, it's a decent chunk, like a month or two free basically. That's how I signed up, made more sense financially.

Thinking of trying Countfire, but also looking at Bluebeam. Anyone used both and can tell me which one's better for electrical takeoff stuff?

R Rosa Romero 1 month ago
I've used both. Bluebeam is more of a general PDF editor, good for markups and stuff, but Countfire is built just for electrical counts. Way faster for that specific task.

Yeah, Countfire's symbol recognition is a game changer for electrical. Bluebeam needs a lot more manual input. Depends if you need a Swiss army knife or a specialized tool.

Do they ever do discount codes? I'm waiting for a good deal before signing up.

G Greg Lindqvist 1 month ago
Not really, not like coupon codes you find online. They have a free trial and a referral program if you know someone already using it.

I think the biggest 'discount' is just going for annual billing, that saves a decent chunk compared to monthly. And the free trial lets you really test it out.

Does Countfire work on Apple computers or is it Windows only?

M Marcus Bennett 1 month ago
It's cloud-based so it works in your browser! I use it on my Mac all the time. Doesn't matter if you have Windows or Mac.

Since it's all online, you can use it on any computer with an internet connection and a web browser. So yes, Mac is fine.

How accurate is the symbol counting feature? Like, does it miss stuff or count extra often?

D David 1 month ago
It's surprisingly accurate, especially once you 'train' it on your specific symbols. For standard stuff, it's almost perfect. For weird drawings, you might need to tweak it a bit.

I've found it's super good, way better than me squinting at a PDF. It rarely misses unless the symbol is really obscure or poor quality on the drawing itself. It beats human error for sure.
